But for John, the day his album comes out may as well be the birth of his child — it means that much to him!
It’s been two years since the release of his last album, Battle Studies. This new one, Born and Raised, is said to be his best one yet (according to Rolling Stone and John himself).
From what I’ve heard, it’s definitely a new style, but still classic John, and I think all of his fans are really going to love it.
Right now, you can listen to the entire album for free on iTunes, until it goes on sale at midnight. Be sure to check it out, especially Queen of California, because it’s my favorite!
It’s not really news anymore, as I’m sure most of you have heard John was forced to cancel his upcoming tour, as his health problems have returned. I was dreading posting this on here, as no one likes to put bad news on their own wedding site!
I, as was John, were absolutely looking forward to this tour, his first one in two years, to promote his upcoming album, Born and Raised (which will still be released on May 22, 2012).
Of course, John didn’t want to cancel the tour, but if he didn’t, his health problems could worsen. The doctors already have no certain date when he can return to singing, touring, or really living a normal life. I joke with John that this is his payback for running his mouth on Twitter (I kid, I kid)!
Although it doesn’t change much, John wrote a sweet statement on his website when the announcement was made:
I’m pretty emotionally burnt out at the moment, but please know how hard I tried to resolve this and how disappointed I am that I can’t perform this record yet. I’m completely bummed, especially for all of you who started making plans to see a show. Nothing feels worse than having to break the stage down before the performance, and I mean nothing. I love this band you were going to hear, I love the guys and girls I work with, and the only thing that stops me from devolving into a puddle of tears is knowing that it’s a long life, and the greatest gift in the world is being able to create music no matter what the circumstances. So these are the new circumstances, and I’ll find a way to make it mean something. That’s all you can ever do.
As you can imagine, health is something that can take a giant toll on a relationship and a marriage. I’m trying to learn ways to cope and care for John’s condition (perfecting my chicken noodle soup recipe), and hopefully, he’ll be back to singing for us all very soon!
John and I are so excited for the upcoming events of John’s music career. He continues to be thankful to do what he loves, and share his craft with the world.
John has announced 18 tour dates, to be completed in just a few months. He has also announced the release date of his upcoming album, “Born and Raised,” which will be available May 22, 2012.
I’ve heard most of the songs, though not in their entirety, and I think you’ll like his new direction. This album is definitely worth the wait; so join him on tour—we’d love to see you there!
Listen to the first single, “Shadow Days,” off the new album, here.
Lucky, a famous writer and renowned blogger, is to be married to John Mayer, an acclaimed guitarist and Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter, worldwide.
Ms. Lucky is the daughter of Mr. Fishing Charm of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Ms. May Secretary of Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Mayer is the son of Richard and Margaret Mayer of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
As most of you are aware, in 2011 Gizzy was feeling unfulfilled. She spent her days working at a dead end 9 to 5 desk job, and felt like she just needed more out of life.
After doing a little soul searching, and making some calls, Gizzy found a movie extras casting agency that welcomed her into their weird little actor family with open arms and a big heart.
It wasn’t long before Gizzy was cast in her first extra role and quickly became Hollywood’s most requested and desired extra. Being the queen of such an elite group allowed Gizzy first pick on extra roles in upcoming Hollywood blockbusters.
It was a standard run of the mill day when Gizzy received an email about an upcoming film that wanted her as their leading extra. Gizzy non-chalantly scrolled the page to see who the cast was when her heart stopped… Lead Male Role: Ryan Gosling. After she saw those words there were no more questions. She knew she had to do the movie.
The first day on set Gizzy was beside herself. She had gotten so excited to be acting in a movie with Ryan Gosling that she didn’t read what her role entailed. She’d be playing a dirty homeless crack addict that taunted Ryan’s character on his way to work every day. How would Ryan ever see her for who she really was when she had to play such a mean spirited dirty old hag? Gizzy only hoped that Ryan could see past the make up, dirty clothes, and fake track marks on her arm to see what was inside Gizzy’s soul.
Days passed and Ryan never noticed the real Gizzy, he only saw her as the homeless hag. Luckily for Gizzy, she had one of the film’s writer’s on her side. Knowing that it didn’t go with the flow of the movie and it would never be used in the final cut, one writer wrote an alternate ending to the film where Gizzy’s homeless hag character cleaned up her life and became a fashion student. In the alernate ending the fashion student went back to the corner where she harassed Ryan’s character every day and showed him the new her. When the writer handed Gizzy the alernate ending script he said, “This is for you kid.” And Ryan got to see the non-homeless unscabbed up side of Gizzy. And they fell in love. Duh!!
Let’s face the facts, the proposal is all about the woman.
Before John popped the question, he and Lucky had talked about being married, but she was never specific about a proposal.
“I would just want it to be about me and that person,” she always said.
Lucky admits she used to dream of an extravagant proposal, one where the man embarrasses himself, goes through weeks of planning, and there’s lots of people around to witness the event.
However, through the years, Lucky’s thoughts on a proposal changed. It wasn’t something she dreamt about, and she stuck to her idea of a proposal just being something special to the couple.
She was, however, particular about the ring.
For years, Lucky has collected cocktail rings. Most of the time, they are vintage or crafty, nothing expensive, but John has treated her to some nice ones during their months together.
Just a month before the proposal, John took Lucky to a hockey game. As if she wasn’t excited enough to see the fights and stuff herself on bar food, they were sitting in the same suite as Carrie Underwood. Carrie, one of Lucky’s favorite style icons and singers, was there to see her husband, Mike Fisher play.
During some light conversation, Lucky finally got a good stare at Carrie’s beautiful ring from Mike. John knew Lucky loved big diamonds, but he’d never seen her light up over one quite as much as she did Carrie’s. John made a mental note, and they went on with their evening.
A week later, John got the information on Carrie’s ring: a yellow diamond from Johnathon Arndt, with a custom setting.
John knew he couldn’t make this decision all on his own, so he called Lucky’s best friend, Gizzy for the final say. It wasn’t like Gizzy to just drop by New York City, so the plans were complicated, but she was able to make it to Arndt’s studio with John to take a look at the rock.
Although the ring is very much like Carrie’s, John had an emerald placed under the center diamond. An outsider can’t see it, but he wanted to include something truly Lucky, and green is her favorite color.
And so, he purchased the 5-karat ring, shoved it in his pocket, and waited for the right moment.
A sunday afternoon, just a few weeks later, Lucky and John met up for their usual stroll through Central Park. It had become a fun past time for them. Lucky was especially happy to see John that day, as he’d been stuck in the studio, and her typing away working on a book for days.
They were on their way to The Plaza Hotel, one of Lucky’s favorite New York landmarks, for brunch and drinks. They walked to the corner, just when the Plaza comes into view, when John said, “Hey…just a second,” and reached into his pocket. Lucky assumed it was a phone call.
But John dropped to one knee, holding a small black box in his hand.
“Lucky… There are things in my life I haven’t been sure about, and I’ve just gone for it. When I saw you that day, I wasn’t sure… I didn’t know how far we’d go… but every day I see you, I am sure that I love you, and I’m sure that I want to be with you for the rest of my life.”
He opened the box, revealing the sparkling diamond.
“Lucky, will you marry me?”
Lucky nodded, jaw open, and then realized she needed to say the words for it to be real, “Yes! Of course I will!”
John carefully removed the ring from its velvet stuffing, and placed it on Lucky’s ring finger—she’d never worn a ring on it, for good luck!
This was followed by a sea of “Oh my God”s as Lucky had never held, let alone owned, such a beautiful piece of jewelry in her life. And to think, her dreams of marrying this guy she’s been crazy over for 12 years were finally coming true, it was all too much to handle. Well, almost.
After a few freak-outs, Lucky and John continued to The Plaza’s Champagne Bar, where they enjoyed their finest bottle of 1996 Vintage Brut Rose, from Dom Perignon.
Truth be told, Lucky has had a crush on John since she was 16 years old, the same year “Room for Squares” made its debut.
At first, it was an innocent lust for a singer Lucky thought was clever and catchy. But as the years passed, John’s lyrics connected with Lucky on a deeper level, and became the soundtrack to the events of her life.
The second time Lucky saw John in concert, and heard him sing “Comfortable,” she knew someday, a love affair between the two of them could be real. Since that night, Lucky has traveled to five different states and seen John in concert nearly a dozen times.
And then, twelve years after Lucky purchased John’s first album, their paths crossed.
As a writer, Lucky spent her life romanticizing New York City; imagining living there, above the city, typing words that would sit on store shelves and one day pay the bills. Finally, after surviving what John calls a “quarter-life crisis,” she went to the big apple for the first time.
John, on the other hand, didn’t know who Lucky was until she was literally right in front of him. For all of the concerts she attended, John is embarrassed he didn’t see her sooner, but he truly believes in clichés like, “timing is everything.”
Truthfully, John never thought he would date, let alone marry, one of his fans. But, the world was witness to his failed Hollywood relationships, and John saw something different in Lucky; she wasn’t just a fan.
On a Tuesday afternoon in New York, Lucky had just left a small coffee shop, on her way to catch the Sex and the City tour. Walking just a few blocks east, she passed a local jeweler’s shop. John was inside; feeding his watch craze.
He saw her pass, stop, and scroll furiously at her Blackberry. Without thinking, he left the shop and stepped beside her just as she was crossing the street.
“I didn’t know people still had Blackberries,” he said.
She jumped, on the defense of locals, or perhaps terrorists.
“Oh, heh,” she looked up. “Well, I, um, yeah, I still use one.”
“I’m sorry, I was just in that shop and saw you looking pretty serious. Tourist?” he asked.
“Should I really be telling you that?”
“Well, that depends,” he said. “I’m John.”
He reached out his hand.
“Yeah…I’m Lucky.”
Despite meeting her destined lover, Lucky was determined to go on the Sex and the City tour, which intrigued John even more. He joined her, reveling in her gasps at every brownstone stoop.
Lucky was hesitant to tell John she was a huge fan, but in time she did, even spilling about the few dreams she’d had of them actually meeting.
And so they say, the rest is history. Lucky can’t write about failed romances any longer, and John, well, he has a love song for someone now.
Gizzy was born alongside Lucky somewhere in Middle America and now resides in one of our countries greatest cities, where she met Ryan. Gizzy spent most of her childhood obsessed with varies one hit wonders (Hanson), tv sitcom stars (JTT), and people who looked like them. It is no surprise that she finally found a Hollywood man to call her own.
As Gizzy matured so did her taste in men. She graduated from liking JTT and set her eyes on David Charvet when he starred on Baywatch. Gizzy traded in her tool belt and science book for a red speedo and took herself to the beaches of California for a summer to stay with her aunt. Whilst in California Gizzy spent many a day hanging out with her aunt’s talking parrot Charlie and potty trained pot belly pig Waldo, these three spent their lazy California afternoons watching Young Hercules where Gizzy quickly fell for the star of the show, Ryan Gosling.
Like any young crush, Gizzy’s admiration for Ryan came and went as men she actually knew came in and out of her life. It wasn’t until Gizzy put her feet down in the big city and got to know herself that she knew Ryan was the one for her. She had a good job, a nice house, an unreliable car, and he was the missing piece to life’s perfect puzzle.
Once Gizzy and Ryan met and began dating, Ryan was very supportive of her negative attitude toward humanity and desk jobs. He encouraged her to set out to find her true calling in life, and it was then that Gizzy realized how well she knew herself at only 8 years old. Ryan was The One and always had been.
Lucky, who is well-known enough to just go by one name, was born and raised somewhere in middle America (in many senses of the term). She grew up coddling a small obsession with sugary cereal (“Chucky Larms” known to the masses as Lucky Charms), teal nail polish, and computer games. In her teenage years, she enjoyed driving ’round the country roads with her windows down, often sharing these moments with her friend Gizzy.
It wasn’t until college Lucky found a true passion for writing, which seems crazy now that she is so successful in that realm of the world. She is currently working on her next New York Times bestseller.
Today, Lucky is living her dreams with her hubby-to-be, John, a man she has loved since she was just 16. Although her standalone name has done her well, Lucky plans to take John’s last name, as any traditional bride would. She is also looking forward to participating in one of John’s favorite holiday traditions: baking a Christmas cake.
Lucky is just hoping John doesn’t get back on Twitter, for the sake of their relationship, and all of his exes’ well-being.
John is a recent fan of Lucky’s writing, and is very supportive of her in her endeavors. He is following her wishes and writing his own vows, and slowly realizing that he used all of his good lines on best-selling records.
Ryan Thomas Gosling, was born to a traveling paper salesman and a secretary in O’Canada on November 12th, 1980. He has one sister.
In his early days he was a mousketeer on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club, right along side Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera. He also starred in a Goosebumps movie, where Gizzy first saw him. It was love at first sight when she was a wee young lad herself.
In the past, Ryan has had a bad habit of falling for the leading ladies (Rachel McAdams, Eva Mendes, etc…etc..etc..) in his films. But that’s all over now that he’s found his real life leading lady, Gizzy.
Outside of his Hollywood life Ryan enjoys long walks on the beach, visiting graveyards, hanging with his dog George, and playing love songs about ghosts and monsters in his band Dead Man’sBones.Gizzy likes his style. He is unique.
Ryan is a hopeless romantic at heart and has always dreamt of finding a woman as awesome as Gizzy to share his life with.
Ryan and Gizzy have hopes to starting a big family. Once they have their first child Ryan has decided he will retire from Hollywood so that they can get a house in the suburbs away from the paparazzi with a white picket fence, and George of course.
